DIVINE

A proud Filipina who grew up in Singapore, Divine is a design chameleon with a love for all things creative! From landscapes to interiors, she’s dabbled in it all—earning a diploma in landscape and architecture, working in interior design, and now diving into the digital arts with SGpro.

She’s on a mission to explore how design can shape the world (and make it a little more stylish while she’s at it). Juggling a degree and work, she thrives on learning, adapting, and bringing fresh ideas to life—one creative project at a time!

What are your interests?

In my rare pockets of free time, I love soaking in the arts, music, and movies with family and friends. When we have the energy, we’re all about exploring new activities and places. Lately, I’ve been trying to keep up a dance hobby—partly to rekindle my love for it, but mostly to push myself out of my comfort zone (and sneak in some self-care for my mind and body).

And in an unexpected plot twist, I recently discovered my love for water activities—turns out, my inner child really enjoys playing mermaid!

Why do you do what you do?

Lately, I’ve been trying to live by the mindset of putting my heart into everything I do, no matter how big or small the task. Especially when motivation wavers.
It reminds me to stay committed, give my best effort, and find purpose even in challenges.

In a fast-paced world, it’s easy to get burnt out, but keeping a greater purpose in mind helps me stay motivated and aligned with the person I hope to grow into.

What was your very first dream job?

My earliest memory of a “dream job” goes way back to when I was about 3 or 4. I was obsessed with those toy cash registers—the flashy colours, the beeping sounds, and the fact that I got to play pretend with my family. Naturally, I decided I was destined to be a cashier.

Fast forward a few years—mission accomplished! I was able to work part-time at a few retail stores, and yep, I got to manage the cashier.

Childhood dream: officially checked off the list!

If you could have plenty of time, money and resources, would you still work?

The word “work” holds different meanings for different people, but for me, it means helping the ones I love and contributing positively to society in some way.
If I had plenty of time, money, and resources, I think I’d have an even greater reason to work.

After all, what would I do with all that money and resources if I weren’t using my time wisely?

If you could have a vacation tradition, what would it be?

I’ve always dreamed of having a cosy outdoor movie night with my family and friends every Christmas, whether at the beach or a camping site. Imagine setting up as the sun sets in the background, wrapping each other in blankets as the evening gets chillier, and gathering around the campfire to cook snacks together.

It feels like the perfect way to spend the holidays—snuggled up with loved ones, creating memories, and soaking in the simple joys. A little something like this:

What is a charity you wish more people knew about?

At my previous company, we had the chance to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity a few times, and our very first session was truly eye-opening. We got to assist people from different walks of life, and it made me realize that even in a developed country, many still struggle. A house doesn’t always feel like a home—sometimes, it reflects a person’s deteriorating emotional and mental state.

For that session, we helped with cleaning homes, but Habitat for Humanity does so much more. They clean beaches, build and restore homes, empower the youth, and run many other meaningful campaigns. I truly believe that everyone deserves a home—a safe space of their own. And I love that Habitat for Humanity helps make that a reality.

What is your favourite joke?

This isn’t really a joke, but it still cracks me up every time I remember it!

I’ve always loved watermelons—even now, just hearing the word gets me excited.

Back when I was a kid in the Philippines, I was so obsessed with watermelons that I’d just eat them without bothering to take out the seeds.
Then one day, an elder told me in Tagalog, “Tutubuan ka ng puno sa katawan pag kinain mo yung buto,” which basically means, “A tree will grow out of you if you eat the seeds.”
That totally freaked me out, and from then on, I made sure to remove every single seed before eating!

I got recommended a video last year that perfectly described the myth, I guess i was not the only one the line was used on haha!

If you’re curious, here’s the video!

What is the best advice you've ever received?

I’ve received a lot of advice in my life that I still hold onto, but if there’s one thing I’d tell anyone—including my younger self—it would be:

“Befriend every part of you, get to know yourself.”

This idea was inspired by a Japanese saying I once came across:

“We all have three faces—the one we show the world, the one we show our loved ones, and the one we show only to ourselves.”

That really stuck with me because I believe that truly understanding who you are at your core helps you navigate life with more clarity and purpose.

What are you most proud of?

What I’m most proud of is the incredible people I have around me!

I feel so blessed to have family and friends who support and embrace me through every stage of life.
